Mr. Thomas Bonasera

Language Arts Educator

Mr. Thomas brings an incredible depth of experience to StarBright, with nearly three decades of teaching across Language Arts, literature, creative writing, theater, and other creative subjects. He holds a California Single Subject Teaching Credential in English, a B.A. in Drama and Theatre, a Master’s in Communication Arts, and a Master’s in Psychology.

His approach to learning is highly project-based, hands-on, and discussion-driven. Rather than simply reading a book and answering questions, Mr. Thomas encourages students to dig deeper, share ideas, make connections, and bring what they’re learning off the page through creative and meaningful projects.

Mr. Thomas spent nearly 20 years teaching English and Theatre with Los Angeles Unified School District and has taught everything from middle and high school English to AP Literature, journalism, creative writing, and theater studies. He also has experience teaching within iLEAD’s charter school program, giving him a valuable understanding of the unique needs of homeschool students and families working with charter schools.

Most of all, Mr. Thomas believes learning should be engaging, collaborative, and something students genuinely want to be part of. He is excited to bring his creativity, experience, and love of great conversation to the StarBright community.
